Billy Wilson first picked up a guitar at the age of 8 and taught himself how to play. Within two years he was recording his own instrumentals, with influences ranging from The Beach Boys to John Mayer. It wasn’t until high school that Billy began singing and putting lyrics to his melodies but it didn’t take long before he had amassed a library of demos.
Wilson began recording with Chris Cutler, formerly of the British band Livewire, before going on to play with Cameron Levy as a musical duo, gaining notoriety for their performances of cover songs on YouTube. Pop star and actress Selena Gomez tweeted their cover of “Everything Has Changed” by Taylor Swift with the caption “So happy for Billy and Cameron.”
He soon returned to focusing on his solo music, and continues to post his own popular renditions of cover songs, in addition to playing schools and shows around Southern California. He recently celebrated the release of his first EP, Hopelessly Optimistic, in 2016.
